چکیده

<b><i>Background:</i></b> While peak in- and expiratory flow rates offer valuable information for diagnosis monitoring in respiratory disease, these indices are usually considered too variable to be routinely used quantification clinical practice. <b><i>Objectives:</i></b> The aim of the study was obtain reproducible measurements maximal inspiratory construct reference equations flows (PIF PEF). <b><i>Method:</i></b> With coaching effort, 187 healthy Caucasian subjects (20–80 years) performed at least 3 combined forced manoeuvres, until 2 were within 10% each other. effect on PIF preceded by a slow expiration instead repeatability over different days also investigated subgroups. Reference values limits normal PIF, mid-inspiratory flow, PEF obtained according Lambda-Mu-Sigma statistical method. <b><i>Results:</i></b> A valid could 3.3 ± 0.6(SD) attempts, resulting an overall within-test variability 4.6 3.2(SD)%. prior inspiration resulted significant (<i>p</i> < 0.001) but small increase (2.5% average). Intraclass correlation coefficient between-day 0.981 (95% CI: 0.960–0.992). Over entire age range, inter-subject smaller than previous reports, predicted based its determinants gender, age, height (<i>r</i>2 = 0.53). <b><i>Conclusions:</i></b> When adhering similar criteria measurement effort-dependent portions flow-volume curves, current ATS/ERS standards, it is possible use routine

Peak Expiratory Flow Rate in Healthy Children from Tehran

Background: Measuring peak expiratory flow rate has been suggested as an important tool in asthma management by all international guidelines.  Objective: Studies on various populations have shown considerable variations in normal values of peak expiratory flow rate. Since reference standards for Iranian children are not available, the present study was performed to establish these standards. Me...

Peak expiratory flow rate of Nepalese children and young adults.

INTRODUCTION In diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases, the assessment of lung functions is of considerable importance. So, normal reference values for pulmonary function tests of any population need to be assessed. OBJECTIVE An attempt has been made in the present study to measure the peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) in healthy Nepalese children and young adults. MATERIAL AND METH...

Peak expiratory flow rate in healthy Pakistani adults.

Peak expiratory flow rates (PEFRs) were measured in 424 healthy subjects (213 males and 211 females) from Karachi and Rawalpindi regions of Pakistan. The mean age, height and peak expiratory flow rate for males were 32.82 ± 10.52 yr, 163.5 ± 5.4 cm and 478.6 ± 63.2l/min respectively. The corresponding values for females were 35.54 ± 6.98 yr, 157.34 ± 8.2cm and 422.5 ± 42.6 l/min respectively. B...

New regression equations for predicting peak expiratory flow in adults.

An earlier study of peak expiratory flow (PEF) in normal adults contained too few men aged over 55 and women aged over 65 for the regression equations to be used for prediction in older people. A subsequent study was therefore carried out on an additional 23 men and 29 women aged 55 or over who were lifelong non-smokers and satisfied the same strict criteria of normality that had been used in t...
